Man charged with murder in Warren County shooting

One person is dead and one is jailed following a shooting Sunday afternoon in Deerfield Twp.

Gerald Olin Finley, 77, pleaded not guilty to murder and felonious assault during his arraignment Monday in Mason Municipal Court.

He remains held on $200,000 bond in the Warren County Jail.

Warren County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a person with a gunshot wound around 3:15 p.m. Sunday at the Deerfield Twp. Fire Station 57 in the 3000 block of West U.S. 22.

Crews attempted life-saving efforts, but the victim died at the scene.

The victim’s identity has not been released.

Deputies detained a person of interest, later identified as Finley, who was on scene. He was charged with felonious assault and murder following questioning, according to the sheriff’s office.
